Premium Organic coffee from PNG that pays farmers a fair income

At Village Growers Coffee, we believe that commerce and ethics should go hand in hand. For far too long, mainstream coffee brands have been exploiting our growers when they receive only 3-6 % of the retail prices for 70% of the work in the coffee chain. By getting your coffee with us, you’re helping to increase farmers’ earnings to 15-20% or more, while getting a great taste of highlands arabica coffee.
A BETTER DEAL FOR PNG GROWERS

Single origin coffee that supports the people who grow it

For many years, big coffee companies have been exploiting farmers in developing countries, such as Papua New Guinea, paying them too little money for the work they do. Smallholders put in the lion’s share of effort, but only receive a tiny fraction of the retail prices.

Village Growers Coffee was established solely to increase the earning capacity of PNG growers by selling 100% organic arabica beans directly to coffee lovers. We work exclusively for the benefit of smallholders, helping to increase their income from 3 to 6 per cent to 20 to 25 per cent on retail prices consumers pay.

We aim to meet the fundamental needs of local growers’ desire for fairness, and we provide a much-needed ethical business model in terms of sharing benefits. This plan attempts to bring growers and the community out of poverty and provide for sustainable existence in their villages.

When you buy from us, you’re getting more than a great ethical coffee: you’re also voting with your money for better conditions for growers.

100% Ethically Sourced Beans

Here at Village Growers Coffee, we strive to be both bold and independent. We are based in Sydney, and it is our goal to make sure that coffee growers in Papa New Guinea are given a fair price for their hard work and labour. Our arabica coffee beans come directly from PNG, before being shipped to coffee lovers across the globe. Coffee bean harvesters and growers tend to earn between 3% and 6% of the retail price from both supermarkets and online stores. We believe that this is unjust because if the growers did not care so much about their craft and the produce they farm, we would not have the amazing and full-bodied coffee beans we have today.

Coffee growers do over 70% of the labour associated with producing coffee, using the most fertile land possible to deliver a product that has worldwide recognition. That’s why we aim to increase their earnings so that they can live free from a life of poverty while getting paid an income that reflects their hard work and dedication.

By buying coffee from us, you’re voting with your money for better pay and conditions for Papua New Guinea farmers. You’re also supporting organic and sustainable growing methods that have been used for hundreds of years. Buy Village Growers Coffee from us and never worry about coffee ethics again.
