Finding great coffee traded ethically shouldn’t be hard. So, here at Village Growers Coffee, that’s exactly what we supply. Our beans come from smallholders who receive fair compensation for their work.
Did you know that coffee growers do over 70% of the work in the coffee chain but only receive between 2 to 3 percent of the profits? We don’t think this is right – and neither do our customers. By buying from us, you’re helping improve the situation, increasing smallholders’ income to 15 to 20 percent – a much better deal.
When buying our coffee, you’re supporting our farmers for fair income. We thank you for supporting our mission and vision.
Whether you’re into fairly traded light, medium or medium-dark PNG single origin coffee, Village Growers Coffee has something for you.
Our medium roast coffee is our popular roast. It has a well-rounded, rich flavour, deep in caramel sweetness.
Village Growers Coffee sells premium single origin arabica coffee grown in villages all over Papua New Guinea. This small, isolated community was the home of the country’s first coffee farms in the 1800s, thanks to its rich volcanic soils. Smallholders grow beans at elevations of 1000-1700 metres where air temperatures are cool and the sun remains low in the sky.
Beans grown in this area are blue/green in colour and large when raw. Roasted, they are white and produce a full-bodied aroma with acidity characteristic of the area.
Village Growers Coffee only supply single-sourced, organically-grown coffee from traditional, village-based farming communities. Our unique approach ensures the highest-quality and most ethically-sourced beans in the region.
At Village Growers Coffee, we believe that commerce and ethics should go hand in hand. For far too long, mainstream coffee brands have been exploiting coffee growers of PNG, paying 2-3 percent of retail values though the farmer has done over 70 percent in the coffee chain. By getting your coffee with us, you’re helping to increase farmers’ profitability to 15-20 percent.
